Medical Team Dr. Al diVittorio and his wife Sally, RN, both of Marshall Medical Center ,took on winemaking as a project, after Al moved his parents to El Dorado County from Ohio in the late 1990's. "My Dad likes to make wine so we kept him busy, making his own wine from Muscat in our basement," Al explained. "People liked it, so Sally and I eventually took it on ourselves as a family project.."

    Their first bottling was a small batch in 2001, followed by a larger volume in 2002.  It was from that vintage that they decided to enter in the El Dorado County competition.

    Their 2002 Founders Blend and 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, both won Bronze Medals at the El Dorado County Fair. Al attributes much of their success to Sally, who attended wine making classes at U.C. Davis.  This truly represents "Wine from the family." or "Vino Della Famiglia" This started years of great spirits to follow.
